"The Bunker" is an underground art gallery/live-in studio which I've curated for the last 6 years. Through the course of the gallery's existence we have played host to over 20 international and local artists, and have participated in many events around Calgary (the 2009 U of C Bachelor of Fine Arts fundraiser for example). This campaign to "Save the Bunker" is a last ditch effort by myself and five of my closest colleagues to save a boutique cultural institution in Calgary. With the growing cost of studio space, having a warm (and free) place to paint and exhibit works of art is invaluable to the token "starving artist". I fear if we have to pack up shop as of May, a unique body of artwork will be scattered around town and never again will be captured in a collection again. What can you do? Tell a friend, send in a piece of art (visual, music, photo, poetry, whatever), buy a print (every photo/painting on this site is available in print format), and just get involved. We are fostering a community of Calgarian artists and every little bit helps. Open house tours of "The Bunker" are available anytime (just call and book a time).
