Studio and Media Arts

“The medium is the message.”
Marshall McLuhan

My work is a high-def transduction of the hyper-fast and information saturated world that we share today, a mash-up of various media and subject matters, a hybrid of anything that I find attractive and/or salient. I don’t subscribe to the apologetics of conceptual-ism, so I don’t pretend that my work is somehow going to didactically transfigure the mindset of whoever is engaging with it. This isn’t to say that I throw concept-uality right out the window when I work; but just, I’m not hung-up on the concept that a concept is the only way to conceptualize art-making. It ultimately matters very little what my initial information or concept was when creating a work, as an artist, because I’m not the one engaging with the work; the viewer’s own concept or pre-concept is what ultimately informs the work.

So if I tell you “it’s about yes,” don’t feel bad if you “don’t get it” or you don’t agree with me. It’s about more than what we can say it’s about.
